Question to read Dalail ul Khairat is the best as a Guide, as a Murshid

Re-post from 4 years ago(2017), Question Salam aleikum; I am a bit confuse, so, I read some posts that says (Alhamdullillah) to read Dalail ul Khairat is the best as a Guide, as a Murshid and so I get motivation to recite it even with my shortcomings.

Then I read other posts that Salawat Fatihi or Salawat Azeemiyyah their value is much more then reading a Khatm of Dalail ul Khayrat so I get confused and I think to myself why recite long time Dalail ul Khairat if one Salawat Fatihi or Azeemia is more worthy and in one minute I read same as Dalail ul Khairat? so what would be the best for myself to attach...the best way?  End of Question.

My reply: Bismillah, walikum salam Sidi Hilário Nobre, the answer as follows;  when you recite Surah Ikhlas 3 times its reward is like reading the whole Quran, not that you have read the whole Qu'ran but its reward is equal to the whole Qur'an. But you cannot compare the rewards and secrets of the whole Quran as each letter and Surah has its secret doors, lights and secrets.

The same is true for fasting 13,14,15 of month is like fasting the whole fast, again what is said, its its rewards are like or equal to, thus its a dimension of rewards only.

Or when the hadith that says; "Whoever offers his Fajr salah in congregation, and then remains seated remembering Allah until after sunrise, and then he offers 2 rakats of Salah Ishraq, will receive the reward of (one complete Hajj and one complete ‘Umrah)"

Again Salah Ishraq isn't the same as the action of one Hajj or Umrah, its the (respect of reward) of one complete Haj and one complete ‘Umrah that is being mentioned, that you are Spiritually dressed in those rewards. Its talking about its value in receipt of rewards only!

The Same goes with reciting Salawat al-Fatihi or Salawat Azeemiyyah what is talked about is in respect of dimension one will receive the rewards of completing a whole Khatm Dalail al-Khayrat and not the actual action of Khatm Dalail al-Khayrat, these are two different energys that are inform us about the rewards one receives.

Now doing a full Khatm of Dalail al-Khayrat or Full Khatm Quran or Complete Haj or ‘Umrah stand on there own merits with much deeper rewards of lights. Thus Salawat al-Fatihi or Salawat Azeemiyyah are being honoured in value of rewards only just how Surah Ikhlas 3 times is being honour in its rewards only too.

Finally read both Dalail al-Khayrat and Salawat al-Fatihi and also Salawat Azeemiyyah too, they open actual Spiritual Doors which is different to just rewards!

As for Dalail al-Khayrat being a Sufi Master or Murshid this is talking about Spiritual Doors will open, through taking the Hand of Dalail al-Khayrat that is through abundance of Salawat! If one Doesn't have a Sufi Master, or instead  Dalail al-Khayrat will help with Unveilings.

But also one needs to read basic sufic text which ive mentioned in my Previous Post about the how the Nafs works and its traps of delusions. Thus its a combination of studying the rules of how the Nafs works with  polishing the Nafs through the School of Salawat, that being abundance upon abundance Salawat, where a simple salawat is read in 5,000 to 10,000 times a day.

Proof from Quran why Sufis say do Wird, twice a day at Fajr and Asr

Proof from Quran why Sufis say do Wird, twice a day at Fajr and Asr.

Shaykh al Islam Ibn Hajar Al Haytami (qaddas Allahu sirrah) said,

“The wirds Sufis customarily recite after prayers, according to their degree of spiritual advancement, have an authentic legal basis in the hadith related by Bayhaqi that the prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) said,

“To invoke Allah (dhikr) with people after the dawn prayer (Fajr) until sunrise is more beloved to me than this world and all it contains, and to invoke Allah Most High with people after the mid-afternoon prayer ('asr) until sunset is more beloved to me than this world and all it contains.” Because the Sufis’ practice of joining to recite wirds and dhikrs after dawn prayer and at other times has a rigorously authenticated (Sahih) basis in the sunna, namely the above-mentioned hadith, there can be no objection to their doing so.” (Al Fatawa Al Hadithiyya) Most of the scholars recommend twice a day, once in the morning and one in the evening. This is based on the Quranic verse, “And remember your Lord by your tongue and within yourself, humbly and with fear and without loudness in words in the mornings, and in the afternoons and be not of those who are neglectful.” (Quran 7:205)

On Remembrance (Dhikr) and having a Wird

On Remembrance (Dhikr) and having a Wird.

“You should have a wird [1] of remembering Allah [dhikr], which you must define with either a determined time or number. [2] Under these circumstances there is no harm in using a rosary to keep count. [3]”

(The Book of Assistance) by Imam Abdullah Haddad  (qaddas Allahu sirrah).

The Explanation: [1] Wird- is any amount of ibada (worship), which may include gaining knowledge, reciting Quran, dhikr (remembrance of Allah) etc., that one does on regular basis.  Wird is commonly translated as “litany.”

Shaykh Hamza Yusuf said, “Wird literally means “place of water,” and this meaning is telling. A watering place is visited regularly, not out of mere fondness but out of necessity. The spiritual aspirant should approach his wird with the same intense thirst and regularity as he would his watering place. As water satisfies the body’s physical demands, so too does the wird bring the soul to a state of contentment and, eventually, delight. The Qur’an is itself a wird, a portion of which should be recited by Muslims daily.”

This wird may also includes salaat (regular established worship-prayers), sunna prayers, reading the Quran, or studying any of the Islamic sciences done for the sake for Allah.  (The Prophetic Invocations)

Shaykh al Islam Ibn Hajar Al Haytami (qaddas Allahu ssirrah) said, “The wirds Sufis customarily recite after prayers, according to their degree of spiritual advancement, have an authentic legal basis in the hadith related by Bayhaqi that the prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) said, “To invoke Allah (dhikr) with people after the dawn prayer (Fajr) until sunrise is more beloved to me than this world and all it contains, and to invoke Allah Most High with people after the mid-afternoon prayer ('asr) until sunset is more beloved to me than this world and all it contains.”

Because the Sufis’ practice of joining to recite wirds and dhikrs after dawn prayer and at other times has a rigorously authenticated (Sahih) basis in the sunna, namely the above-mentioned hadith, there can be no objection to their doing so.” (Al Fatawa Al Hadithiyya)

[2]  Most of the scholars recommend twice a day, once in the morning and one in the evening. This is based on the Quranic verse, “And remember your Lord by your tongue and within yourself, humbly and with fear and without loudness in words in the mornings, and in the afternoons and be not of those who are neglectful.” ( Quran 7:205)

Shaykh Hamza Yusuf recommends the wird of Imaam Haddad (qaddas Allahu sirrah), Hasan Banna, Imaam Nawawi (qaddas Allahu sirrah) and Sidi Ahmad Zarruq  (qaddas Allahu sirrah). The wird of Shadhili Tariqa.

[3] Imam Jalal Al-Din Suyuti (qaddas Allahu sirrah) said, “Having long heard questions concerning the rosary (subha) as to whether there is a basis for it in the sunna, I have compiled in this section the hadiths and accounts of early Muslims that relate to it.

Ibn Amr said, “ I saw the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) count the times he said, ‘Subhan Allah” on his hand.”

Safiyya said, “the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) entered the room where I sat with four thousand date stones in front of me and He asked, ‘What is this.

O daughter of Huyay?’ I said, ‘I am saying “Subhan Allah” with them.” He replied, ‘I’ve said “Subhan Allah” More times than this since you’ve begun,’ and I said, “’Show me how, O Messenger of Allah.’

He said, ‘Say, “Subhan Allah the number of everything He has created.”’” (Narrated by Tirmidhi who said it is gharib, and both al-Hakim and Suyuti declared it sahih.)

As one scholar has said, “Counting the times one says, “Subhan Allah’ on one’s fingers is superior to doing so on a rosary because of the hadith of Ibn Amr, though it has been said that if the person saying it is safe from mistakes on counting, his fingers are better, while if not, then saying it on a rosary is more suitable.

Some of the most renowned Muslims have used rosaries, those from whom the religion is taken and who are relied upon such as Abu Hurayrah (Allah be well pleased with him), who had a string with two thousand knots in it, and did not use to go to sleep before saying ‘Subhan Allah’ with it twelve thousand times.”

‘Umar Al Maliki said, :I saw my teacher Hasan Al Basri (qaddas Allahu sirrah) with a rosary in his hand and said, ‘Teacher, with your great eminence and the excellence of your worship, do you still use a rosary?’ and he replied,

“Something we have used at the beginning we are wont to leave at the end. I love to remember Allah with my heart, my hand, and my tongue.’”

And how should it be otherwise, when the rosary reminds one of Allah Most High and a s person seldom sees one save that he remembers Allah, this being among the greatest of its benefits (Al Hawi li al Fatawi).

Steps to Tazkiyah-(Purification) of the Soul-(Nafs) by Sajad Ali (Note: this is written in a comprehensive abridged description, there is much more in detail that needs to be said for full understanding and guidance) Bismillahir-Rahmanir-Rahim. Alhamdulillahi rabbil-'alamin was-Salatu was-Salam 'ala Sayyidil-Mursalin wa 'ala 'Alihi wa Sahbihi Ajma'in.

*Step - 1 Those who are serious with Sufism first need take the 1st Step which is Tawab-(Repentance) and Last step Tawab-(Repentance), they need to recite "Astaghfirullah Ya Karim" - 1000 to 10'000 times a day - (I seek forgiveness from Allah oh Generous).

Take the first step to start the journey of Tawab-(Repentance) which is the journey home to Allah, to ones inner secret, found within the heart, and to increase ones, Rizq-(Provision) increase and know 'ilm-(knowledge) is Rizq-(Provision) too. And the heart is given Nur-(Light), this is the first step and last step to Allah, Dhikrullah-(Remembrance of Allah) is Nur-(Light), you need Nur-(Light), to see in the darkness, it opens the doors to the unseen world within you that is only by the veils of darkness of the Nafs-(Ego).

If you read "Astaghfirullah Ya Karim - 10'000 times a day for 40 days or longer in time your soul will slowly be full of Nur-(Light) and sins, like Ghiyba-(backbiting), Ghill-(Holding Grudges), Ghada-(Anger) or Swearing that are holding you back and tie you down are soon made easy to release from there attachments as they destroy blessing to the Ruh-(Soul). Kadhdhab-(lying) kills the Ruh-(Soul) and (blackens ones Face and Heart) and other sins cause pain to your heart. “Each time someone lies a black spot appears on his heart until his whole heart becomes black and he is written with Allah as a Kadhdhab a liar" Hadith.

The Nur-(Light) of "Astaghfirullah Ya Karim - 10'000 times a day will soon cause affects to your Ruh-(Soul). You will know when, you will feel pain in your heart from those and other sins done. Why? The Nur-(Light) of Dhikrullah-(Remembrance of Allah) starts wiping away Sins which cause darkness to the Heart, you will know as Nur-(Light) enters your heart by the grace of Allah, you will feel its affects are taken place. Because soon you feel the pain of those sins, tears flow down, you're forced to stop or lessen them or you become more aware of your conscious-(your feelings) and subconscious- (ego nafs) become aware of them and your soul makes or draws you to read Astaghfirullah even more.

*Step - 2 Read in great Abundance Salawat-(prayers upon then Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم) and it will wash the darkness away and replace it with the Jamili-(Beauty) Nur-(Light) of Salawat-(prayers upon then Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم) will ornament and decoration your hearts like how a lamp illuminates a dark room with brighten, so recited everyday 1000 times. ( the lights of Jamil-Beauty are easier then Jalali-Majestic to handle)

*Step - 3 Learning Fardh al 'ayn, and learning about Halal and Haram in food; basics of Fardh of Worship how to pray and fasting and what makes them invalid, pray extra Nafil like Salah Duha, the 6 Nafil after of Maghrib, Salah Tawab, Salah Tahajjud. Why is its Important to learning about Halal food, because eating Haram stops blessings in your ibadah-(Worship) for 40 days and Haram food force and increases Haraam thoughts and actions which will lead to Sins.

*Step - 4 Important - Judge No one, find no faults with others, always be in a state of Husn-al Dhann-(Having a Good opinion or others) and learn Adaab-(Manners) and learn Akhlaq-(Behaviour or Character) as Adab is a part of Akhlaq. Busy yourself with Muhasbah-(Self Auditing or Accounting your own soul with mistakes and slips and sins NOT other people).

Be busy with serving others, this is Khidma-(Service others) through Charity works, or Naseeha-(Good Kind counselling) and never, ever judge them or their past actions instead think them better then yourself. We all fall and slip and make mistakes and Sin. Maybe your Khidma-(service others) is your Tawab-(Repentance), maybe their Dua'-(Pray) for you, is your Tawab-(Repentance) answered.

Never be pleased with your good actions and If you think you haven't fallen into major Sins or Sins then that is Kibr-(Arrogance) and far worse then sinners. As you will be full of 'Ujb-(Pride) which is the robe of Shaytan and be was full of knowledge too, instead be humble always and never be pleased with your good actions. But show Shukr-(Gratitude) that is be thankful, that Allah has allowed you to be in obedient to Him or brings you back to obedience when you sin, thus show Show Shukr-(Gratitude) and be humble.

By improving one's Akhlaq-(Behaviour or Character) one improve's their 'Ibadah-(Worship). The masters of 'ilm and hadith has said ‘We are more in need of acquiring 'Adab-(Manners) than learning Hadith’. So learn that lesson. All the books of Hadith have chapters on 'Adab and the book Al Adab Al Mufrad was separated by Imam Bukhari which is about learning 'Adab-(Manners.

Finally this last point, imprint this Hadith firmly on your mind and soul;
“I have not been sent as a Messenger, except to perfect character (Akhlaaq)” He also said that: “The nearest of you to me on the Day of Judgement will be the one who is best in character.” (Bukhari)

So without Adaab-(Manners) and Akhlaq-(Behaviour or Character) your Nothing! your 'Ibadah-(Worship won't benefit your much in the way to Tazkiyah-(Purification) of the Soul-(Nafs).

“When God gives you adab (manners/etiquette), then God has given you triumph & victory. When God forbid forsakes us and deprives us of adab, then God has given us disaster & defeat.

The loss of adab leads to self-deception & illusion. You think you are near but you are very far away. Adab is the key that removes our illusion through Sidq (Truthfulness) & Ikhlaas (Sincerity). Being deprived of adab deprives one of all good.”  Dr. Umar Faruq Abd-Allah

Some will say, go look for a Sufi master 1st, but near the near of time, most of the real ones will be hidden and the ones that are around many of them won’t teach or explain how to progression properly. That why the Great Sufi Shadhili Masters have said; "Those who don't have a Sufi Master can have Dalal'il Khayrat or Salawat to guide them"

Recently i’ve understood more of what the Shadhili masters meant by taking Salawat as a Hadi-Guide. As Salawat is the key that removes the Veils from the heart, so one sees with the inner of the Unseen-(Ghayb) World.

Salawat removes the darkness by its Light of Salawat so one sees with the Eyes of the Heart-Faw’ad. This is another Subject i’m currently learning and writing about, it is the World of the Huzuri or Hudhur ones who are present and inner eyes are awaken...  more about this another time...

Give Sadaqah without delay, for it stands in the way of problems/calamities."(Tirmidhi).

Insulting one another

 I'm reading a lot of (facebook posts) from Sunni so called (Sufi) brothers insulting one another and other Sufi scholars and salafi-nadjis too, and they are proud of it, thinking it’s great, yet the scholars say;

 "What counts are realities and meanings, not merely wordings or labels.” Consider the following poem;

There once was a sufi with beads,
Who was terribly impressed with his deeds,
The salafi, he scorned
“You’ve no purity” he warned,
With his self he was, O so well-pleased.

Hadith on Humility: Do not respond to insults like the devil does;
Iyad ibn Himar reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Verily, Allah has revealed to me that you should be humble, such that none of you transgresses or boasts against another.” I said, “O Messenger of Allah, what do you think about a man who reviles me in a lowly assembly and I respond to him; am I sinful?” The Prophet peace be upon him said, “Two people who revile each other are like two devils accusing and denying each other. al-Adab al-Mufrad 428

“Insulting a Muslim is an act of immorality and fighting him is an act of disbelief.” (Bukhari)

Another hadith states, “It is not the character of a believer to indulge in slandering, cursing, or immoral talk.” (Tirmdhi)
